ISIS Publishes Video Threatening Russia One Month Before Terrorist Attack

The Kremlin was accused of links with the Taliban.

Orientalist Ruslan Suleymanov shared with "We Can Explain" an excerpt from a video he translated from Arabic in which ISIS representatives condemn Russia. The video was published by an ISIS-affiliated Telegram channel on February 18, a month before the terrorist attack in Moscow.

In the passage, a voiceover condemns Russia for its friendship with the Taliban: "Among those who sought to forge ties of friendship with them [the Taliban] were Russian criminals wreaking havoc on earth. They invaded the homes of Muslims and ran to extremes fighting and driving them out in various parts of the earth."

The video then shows an address by an ISIS militant who blew himself up outside the Russian embassy in Kabul in 2022. At least 8 people were killed in that explosion.

The song in Russian "Soon, very soon the blood will spill by the sea..." is played next.

The US, India and China have also been accused of abetting the Taliban. All these countries are targets of ISIS, Suleymanov said. "This is nothing more than a propaganda video," the expert points out. "There were no direct threats or statements that ISIS is preparing an attack on Russia," Suleymanov said

The video was published in one of the tg channels that repost publications of Amaq News and Nashr News, news agencies close to ISIS.
