In 1994, Litvinenko graduated from the Institute of Cryptography, Telecommunications and Computer Science of the Russian Federation.

On Tuesday, March 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) and appointed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) Oleksandr Litvinenko in his place. He became the fourteenth secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

Oleksandr Litvinenko was born on April 27, 1972 in Kyiv. He became the head of the FIS on July 23, 2021. Before that, Litvinenko had been Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council for 5 years, but he was not Danilov's deputy – Litvinenko was in this post from April 4, 2014 to August 13, 2019.

From August 13, 2019 to July 23, 2021, Oleksandr Litvinenko was Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

He was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the 5th degree, the Distinction Award of the President of Ukraine – the jubilee medal "25 Years of Independence of Ukraine".

He is Married and has a son and a daughter.

Education

In 1994, Litvinenko graduated from the Institute of Cryptography, Telecommunications and Computer Science of the Russian Federation with a degree in applied mathematics (lustration check 2015).

In 2009, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a law degree.

In 2013, he graduated from the Royal College of Defence Sciences (RCDs) in the UK.

Litvinenko is a doctor of political sciences, professor, as well as an honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine, a civil servant of the second rank and a major general of the reserve. He is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English.
