SSU Exposes FSB Agent Group Preparing Strike On General Headquarters Units

And the Kyiv TV tower.

The SSU officers detained the FSB agent group, which was preparing missile strikes on the Kyiv TV tower and units of the General Headquarters of the AFU. In addition, the target of the attackers was the capital's thermal power plant.

This was reported in the press service of the Main Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region, writes obozrevatel.com. The suspects face 15 years or life imprisonment.

"Cyber-specialists of the Security Service have exposed new attempts of the aggressor to inflict fire damage on the strategic infrastructure of Ukraine. As a result of a special operation in Kyiv and in Odesa, two FSB agents were detained. They were preparing missile strikes against military units of the Defence Forces and energy and telecommunications facilities in three regions. Army units providing security for the AFU General Headquarters, data on the Defence Forces in Poltava region, as well as the Kyiv TV tower and the capital's CHPP were in the zone of special attention of the agents," the press service said.

As noted by the Security Service, the attackers first tried to establish the locations of the Ukrainian troops, and then send the occupants the relevant coordinates to adjust the air attacks. In order to collect intelligence data secretly, one of the Russian agents found a job as a forwarder in an Odesa company supplying foodstuffs to units of the Defence Forces.

Another agent was gathering information on the technical condition of the Kyiv TV tower after it was shelled in March 2022. He also photographed the exterior of one of the thermal power plants that provides electricity and heat to a large part of the capital's region. Reportedly, the aggressor needed this information in order to make a decision on adjusting repeated or new strikes on the local thermal power plant and TV tower.

The SSU officers timely exposed the intelligence activity of the Russian agents and documented it step by step. At the final stage of the special operation, both malefactors were detained "red handed" when they were spying on potential "targets" for the occupiers.

"According to the investigation, one of the enemy henchmen turned out to be an engineer-technologist of a food industry enterprise in Odesa. The other one is a 24-year-old Kyiv resident. At the end of January this year, they were remotely recruited by a personnel officer of the FSB in Moscow and Moscow region," specified the security service.

The detainees were informed about suspicion of high treason.
